Anyone have hydracephalus? Hydracephaly w/ shunt in place?

My 9 month old son was born with brain anomolies and has hydracephalus. At 3 days old, the Neurosurgeon placed a VP Shunt. I am wondering if there are any adults or even parents with young children who have shunts. I know that things vary from person to person however I am wondering what to look toward. We have already had 6 surgeries for the shunt malfunctioning and/or getting infected. Anyone out there got a story that they would mind sharing? I would greatly appreciate it.
