hold up - hold up

i can hardly walk alone without constantly looking behind my back. i don't go to empty alleys where hold ups can easily take place. and when i'm riding in a public vehicle i always keep in mind its license plate and observe all passengers because someone might just look suspicious. so tell me, is it just me or is the world more prone to crime nowadays?

Part of it is you and your environement. The world does not have more crime just more people in it to commit crime. The media helps escalate the crime information. There has always been crime and heinous crime too just like today. The difference is there was no way to report the crime to the masses. People only knew about what went on in their community. We are privvy to all crime everywhere and when you hear about it from everywhere then is a huge amount of crime. So no there is not more crime today than yesterday you are just being made aware of more crime.

well with the increasing crime rates..i feel so unsafe. i don't look behind my back when am walking alone..probably give sideways glance at people whom i find strange..i always have an alert eye! but the best i could do is to avoid them and walk faster.

I am afraid to say that you are correct about the crime rate. It just keeps on going up and up. But..... I think you may be a little paranoid by constantly looking behind you? Is it really that bad where you live?

yeah..maybe i'm a little bit paranoid. maybe that's because my brother has been robbed once, my cousin thrice and his sister was stabbed four times (thank God she survived!) and has been robbed once together with his other sister. and i don't wanna be next. i'm just glad no one has been seriously hurt in my family.
