Legal Separation - Can We Marry Again?

Philippines

When we go through a legal separation can we re-marry legally? The cost is staggering $2,000+. Is it worth it?...against our happiness? What about the kids that are left behind? Will they have a better future without either one of their parents?

If you legally separate you still need to file for divorce to be able to remarry. You are better off paying for the divorce as many states do not even honor legal separations. The kids that are left behind are only better off if the relationship that is being dissolved is a negative impact on them. If the proper support, love and attention is given to the children before, during and after the process, this will help them get through everything a bit better.

If you are only legally separated you can not get remarried. You have to get a divorce. There is a difference. If you don't get a divorce and remarry you will be a bigamist.
