Being a Yankee's fan i dont think the whole pay roll issue is that big of deal but yet some people think thats the only reason they are good. Do people think that the yankee's would still be good if they had the same pay roll as a team like the devil rays?

The pay roll is a GIGANTIC issue when it comes to a teams success. The problem is that the Yankees sign to many superstars, or better than average players. The ironic part is that they haven't had much success like they did in the late 90's. You cant expect to sign a player who was a starter for his last team and sit him once he is on your team. The Yankees have to stop signing players and develope some from their minor league teams. Or trade some big name players for some good prospects. I believe that they had some of that going on this off season.

I dont think its that much of an issue because that any one in the majors are good its just that some get paid more than others

But being able to sign all the best available players on the market should not be allowed. And the Yankees payroll is so large that once they get a player they can afford to sign him to a long contract. So even if the player doesn't play good when he is with the Yankees, the Yankees can still trade him and get a lot out of him. Which is what they have done with Gary Sheffield and Randy Johnson. They where able to make a deal and got a numerous amount of prospects.

I totally agree with you I don't think it's a payroll thing. It's more of a coaching thing, a fan thing, and a team thing. Not saying the other teams don't have good coaches, fans or teammates. SOme have all three others have one or two. I mean the Pirates have average seasons, but at the same time there aren't too many fans here in Pittsburgh, it's generally Steeler Country out here. I don't think if the Pirates had the same payroll that they would be as good as the Yankees or even the Red Sox.

I too am a Yankee's fan and I don't think the pay roll has anything to do with their ability to play the game. I mean if some of the players played for say the Pirates who have a lower pay roll, they would play just as well. How much money they are getting doesn't effect how they play the game.
