Perhaps Stephen Hawking? His work is certainly pushing the boundaries of his subject further. Or Andrew Wilkes who solved Fermat's Last Theorem? But your probably right, no-one is pushing the boundaries of science in multiple areas any more. That's probably due to the ever increasing complexity of the subjects, forcing academics to be real specialists rather than a jack of all trades.
