the new year

out in the streets people have already begun celebrating the coming new year. actually some have started playing with fireworks weeks ago. despite of all the action and probably some glorious feast to be set in dining table, I find myself unable to join in the celebration. how could most of you look at tomorrow with so much renewed hope that it seems shatter proof? I once had that kind of belief for something I felt so strongly about but it was shattered like glass as if I hadn't built it strongly enough. what does the new year hold for us? Yes, there are so much that we can make from it, with this new beginning. Yet what's out there is still uncertain. Can hope be more than a four-letter word? How do you regain your strength and rebuild yourself? How do you look at the new year with a raised chin and hopeful eyes?

I hope you made it through the new year; I try to sleep through it myself, but people are always shooting off fireworks. And how do you look at tomorrow with renewed hope? Hope isn't the same thing as belief. I feel that as long as we are here, we might as well see what there is to see and hope for the best. It might be smarter and cooler to be cynical and look for the worst in people, but it is much more pleasant to look for the best. You always see more of what you are looking for, so I try to focus on beauty. Sometimes there are moments of unexpected grace, an unearned smile or kindness. Best wishes to you.
