What are some signs that you have a highly intelligent child?

How can you tell that your child is more intelligent than other children? Is there anything in particular that stands out to you? Can children actually skip a grade in school because they are very smart? One example might be that they speak in sentences using more difficult words or vocabulary but am curious to find out other signs.

Well I could suggest the following indicators for a gifted/intelligent child: 1. IQ score of 130 to 144 would be a first indication 2. A specific talent, such as artistic ability or an unusual facility for numbers. For example, children who draw unusually realistic pictures or who can manipulate numbers in their head. 3. Reaches developmental milestones well ahead of peers. 4. Is relentlessly curious and never seems to stop asking questions. 5. Is unusually active, though not hyperactive. 6. Has a vivid imagination. 7. Is able to memorize facts easily and can recall arcane information that he learns from television shows, movies, or books.

That is great information. Thank you very much. Do you have a gifted child? Those are definitely interesting traits and will have to keep those in mind. Did you know any children like that? I did not but I know some people who have had gifted children. Happy New Year to you.

I'd say that would be my guess too. I've heard children who do skip grade to match their intelligence. I hope my daughter will be a genius. That'll make me proud.
