On the answering machine of a cell phone: "I'm not home right now, but leave a message" A cell phone is not your home unless you use your cell as your primary phone number.
"Hi, since you've reached the machine, it means I can't find the phone. Feel free to continue calling me so I have time to find it."
"You haven't reached me and that's why you are leaving a message"
"There must be a reason why you've reached the machine instead of me. If it's the middle of the night, then I'm probably asleep. If it's between normal business hours, I'm probably at work. Please start calling at other times so you know you'll reach me."
