I have a computer?

my computer does not recognize my dvd writer at times, usually a reboot works and it shows up as an Icon under my computer sometimes not. without changing or moving anything If I reboot it self recognizes. How can I fix this?

You need to check 2 things... 1. SMPS (if it has enough Wattage to support all devices you have installed) 2. The DATA CABLE that connects the Motherboard and DVD

I have changed the cable and now everything is fine, thanks for the suggestions.

try to unplug data cabel and power cabel then plug again but diferrent plug in secondary slave.

Thanks I actually eplaced the cabele and everything seems to be fine so far, no misreads as of yet.

I'd definately agree, open it up, check the cords, first priority! Try some different ones. Ground yourself before touching anything inside.

try opening the CPU & se the cord i attached correctly or not. see if its loose or something. buy a new cord & try. & if it still doesnt work. give it to a computer shop 2 see wats the prob.

How old is the computer it could be that the DVD does not get enough power from the Powersupply at times. The newer boards do ask alot of power from the Power supply. But it could very well be that the the powercable or the datacable is not connected correctly or damaged.
