Dating within different social circles...can it really happen?

I just finished watching MAID IN MANHATTAN with Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Finnes. Do you believe that something like this can really happen? Jennifer's character is a maid in a hotel and Ralph's character is a would be Senator and he falls in love with her not knowing she is a maid. Even after he finds out he pursues her. PLEEEEZEEEE! Ill tell you why this cant be true. Men think logically and not with their hearts. Men do what is best for them in the long term. No man who is running for the Senate, President, etc, would ever jeopardize their career and go out with a maid. Please prove me wrong. Im a skeptic.
