Sleeping with your children

what do you think about cosleeping? Our family's had a family bed since day one and I wouldn't change a thing. It's so cozy. Sleeping in separate beds (or separate rooms) is such a relatively modern trend It's actually been normal for humans to sleep in shared space since the beginning of time.

My 22 month old and my 3 year old sleep with us...I dont think its that cozy...lol I love it but its cramped and I feel like a sardine in a can! My 3 year old is also not completely potty trained at night so me and my hubby wake up soaked atleast 2 nights a week! I would rather have them in my bed...I just wish my bed was a tad bit bigger...but I think my boys feel more love when we all cuddle together at bedtime and it keeps us warmer in the winter:)

ITA about being warmer! Our 2YO still needs to be roused in the middle of the night to pee or else we get wet about once a week. I usually wake up around 3 anyway, and just prop the child up, hold up a suitable container, let him go, and we all go right back to sleep. He doesn't even really wake up. Works for us.

We co-slept with our four children. Our oldest two transitioned to their own beds when they wanted to. I didn't see a need to push them out before they were ready. Our oldest son (4yo) will occasionally crawl into our bed, but falls asleep in his own bed. Our youngest (2 1/2yo) still falls asleep in mine or daddy's arms. Sometimes he sleeps in his bed (he shares a room with his brother) but he always ends up sleeping with us. I love being able to cuddle with my babies for as long as they'll let me. They only stay little so long, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

I agree - these years go by too fast.

I love it! You're right, it is how humans have been doing it up until about two hundred years ago, and that is only in western culture. People who don't stop to think for themselves say that it will spoil your children. Someone argued with me about how long people have been co-sleeping and said, "Well, what about Jesus and the manger?", I said "It's a song, they didn't use cribs then". I'm sure Jesus and Mary co-slept, and look how he turned out.

We cosleep as well. My youngest has been in our bed from day one. My second youngest co sleep from birth as well he is now 4. He and my oldest 8 still come in our room when they want. Usually it involves "camping out" in sleeping bags though. They share a bunkbed and usually choice to sleep on the same level. Everyone likes to snuggle up with someone in our home. It's the norm!
