Did Suddam derserve to be hanged? Iraq?

Hi the question i would like to ask you is did suddam deserve to be hanged, i felt that life in prison would be enough punishment until he dies, it was quite disturbing to see that someone has actually been hanged what do you think on this, did he derseve it are you against this type of punishment?
