Would this help welfare? Would it help health cost? Would you have it done?

I do know that some of the BIG unions(ie,IWA and the vehicle unions) did cover the expenses of a ligation or vasectomy in Canada(not sure about the US).With all the strikes and lockouts though,I am not sure if the workers still have this benefits.

True, the unions used to have great medical. They paid for the twins weekly visits. I am talking about the poor and those with no insurance.

I am a firm believer in universal health care. This would be PART of the health care benefits.I hope that clarrifies what I was trying to say a bit.

YES! I strongly believe that it should be made available to ALL PEOPLE! Not just those that have the insurance to cover it, and if it was free all the better! I know for sure that I would have taken advantage of it. Where I live (New Hampshire) I was told after my second child, when I wanted to have a tubal done, that the STATE would not allow any woman under the age of 26 to have a tubal! And yes, I was on medicaid at the time, living off the state as I didn't have a job and no insurance. So therefore, being supported by the state they have the right to tell me that I don't have the CHOICE to NOT have any more children! How is THAT right? I couldn't afford the kids I had and yet they are giving me no choice but to have more?! Something wrong there! And you guessed it, years later, I got pregnant again with a third child and had alot of difficulties all throughout my pregnancy and afterwards as well. I DID get the state to pay for the tubal then, as I had to go back on medicaid during the pregnancy (still no insurance). I also ended having to have a hysterectomy at the age of 28, because of all the problems I had and was still having. I won't go into all the details, but I didn't have a choice but to have it done. My doctors all told me that I should NEVER have had a third child because of all the problems during and after. I now suffer from a bladder disease as well, ever want to look it up, it's called interstitial cystitis. Basically I no longer have the inside of my bladder... the medication to "fix" this is over $600 PER MONTH!!! And that would be something that I would have to take daily for the rest of my life. And no insurance covers it either. So all in all I would have to say in my experience that it would have helped me stay off the welfare system. After the first 2 kids, I got off the medicaid within a couple months and never asked the state for help. Now, with the 3rd and unwanted child, and living off my husbands small income, there is no way to make ends meet. So now I do depend on the state to feed my kids monthly.

it should be free.. especially for those countries who are concern with their rapidly growing population..
