Do you ever contact friends by calling thier computers and talking live to them? I think this is an awesome feature. In order to do this you have to have speakers and a microphone. My hubby and I watch our grandchildren open gifts at Christmas and now as an added bonus we can call the computer to hear them and talk to them..........TY Yahoo for making life so much better.

yeah!! i got 7 yahoo accounts.. i tried everything.. but let me give u a suggestion to try SKYPE where the audio is clearer than yahoo. (wink! wink!) PC to PC calls are for free but have u tried calling frm your yahoo to a mobile phone? or yahoo to a homephone.. it is possible and u will be charged like 1 cent per minute... skype also do that.. but when it ocmes to audio and video quality, skype is much better.. YAHOO is just popular

I do use yahoo messenger and enjoy all its features. I have webcam, microphone, speakers, head phone. I use it whenever I need to talk to my relatives, friends, customers. It is very economical to use it. Other modes of communicating are costlier than this.

Y - mess is the only one that I use . And when I`m at school where we don`t have y-mess , we are on meebo , but meebo I don`t think that is used as primary for chating with someone . So , if may I return to the topic , Yahoo messenger is the best I think , even that it have some bugs that sometimes are little annoying . Anyway , the chatting thru microphone part is really awesome . For example if somebody let`s say close for me , is now in other country , well , the best way to talk with him for let`s say , Free! is y-mess . Of course , free I mean from PC-to-PC . But also the costs from PC-Cell Phone is really low starting from 0,01 / min . So ... and also the web camera is great to be there , but of course , out there are other strong companies too like MSN...

I have write an article about Messenger i think willhelp you to understand this yahoo mania. Yahoo! Messenger is a popular instant messaging client and protocol provided by Yahoo!. Yahoo! Messenger is provided free of charge and can be downloaded and used with a generic "Yahoo! ID" which also allows access to other Yahoo! services, such as Yahoo! Mail, where users can be automatically notified when they receive new email. Yahoo! offers PC to PC telephone, file transfers, webcam hosting, text messaging service, and chat rooms in various categories. In addition to instant messaging features similar to those offered by ICQ, it also offers (on Microsoft Windows) many unique features such as: IMVironments (customizing the look of Instant Message windows), address-book integration and Custom Status Messages. It was also the first major IM client to feature offline-messaging, BUZZing, music-status. Another recently added feature is customized avatars. However, some of these features are not available on other platforms, such as Mac OS X. Yahoo! Messenger 2.5.3 for Mac, released in 2003, is the current stable version for Mac, and offers drastically fewer features than the Windows release. It has been reported to be quite buggy when run on the latest version of Mac OS X, and it is very primitive when compared to other messenging applications for Macintosh. However, in June of 2006, Messenger for Mac 3.0b1 was released as a beta, with a final version due later. This beta has a modernized interface when compared to the 2003 application which includes Avatars and display image viewing, BUZZ facility, and other similar features with the Yahoo! Messenger in Windows. However, it is still lacking advanced features like PC-to-PC call and address book capabilities. Yahoo! has announced a partnership with Microsoft to join their instant messaging networks. This would make Yahoo! Messenger compatible with Microsoft's .NET Messenger Service. It also made Microsoft's Windows Live Messenger compatible with Yahoo!'s Network. This change has taken effect as of July 13, 2006, - Yahoo! Messenger has integrated instant messaging with Windows Live Messenger users, and is fully functional.

Yes. this is a very good and useful feature.Recently, my elder son has gone to America. Whenever we find time, we are talking with him through Yahoo messenger Phone by seeing him in the WebCam. So Yahoo is helping our family so close that we forgot the distance between India and America.
