I see many Muslims in India wearing white dress and with a very long beard but no moustache. Is it a rule in the Quran which says that the beard should not be shaved?

well that was what i was also wondering on..but as anirigh put it, the situational practises has now been associated with religion down the ages..but i dont know why it has to be contimued if there is no religious significance to it..

O yes, if you notice, you can actually see Muslims like that. Or you can even ask any Muslim friend also.

No, it's not the law. It's just something that is encouraged in Islam as this is one way to differentiate man from woman. Islam prohibits man behaves like a woman and vice versa and beard is a distinc way to show that different.

thank you isakuyoiki, but then i thought that the only difference which muslims practised was that the men wear long white robes while women wear long black robes, and also that men dont cover their faces but the women covers?

There is no such rule in Quran saying that beard should not be shaved. We have other muslims in the world which keep both beard and moustache,...don't u know that?...may be the indian muslim culture is like that,..BUT it's not stated in Quran is like what you thinking ........

Huh?It is not a rule.By the way,did u ever come to Malaysia? I hope u will come here to see our beautifully blend culture. Anyway, there is no rule that the beard should not be shave. but,i like people who have a little beard.im one of them. Muslims people not necessarily have to wear black clothes.maybe its just their traditions.
