I think at first when you see the cookbook it is a bit overwhelming. I started watching her on her 30 minute meals show. Yes she uses many different spices but most of them you can buy at the dollar store now so it isn't very expensive to stock a spice shelf. I am like you where I look for recipes with the shortest ingredients list but after watching her I am more willing to try her recipes. Most of them are very healthy. She does a lot with chicken stock which is interesting. Give her a chance I don't think you will be sorry.

Don't feel stuck in your age. The trend in the last few years is to use more ethnic ingredients. There are quite a few spices and ingredients popular now that most people had never heard of 10 years ago. Hang in there!

I'm a fan of RR even though I'm vegetarian and most of her recipes are meat based. I don't have any of her books, but I do get recipes from her website. As far as the cilantro goes, I prefer fresh, but I have found it in the frozen food section in a little jar. It lasts much longer this way if you don't use it often.

I have it and I use it. I love the recipes that she put in there. And compared to my other cookbooks, it's a very simple book. What ingredients or recipes are giving you trouble?

Cilantro is a Chinese spice. It's used in a lot of Middle Eastern, Asian and Mexican food. If you've heard of coriander, coriander is the seeds of cilantro. You can get it in the herb and spice section of any grocery store. :D

Do you mean "cilantro"? If so, it is also known as coriander or Chinese Parsley. Without having seen the recipe, I am pretty sure RR wants you to use the leaves of this plant as an ingredient. It is often used in Chinese food and curries. Hope that helps, happy cooking.

I have the book and love it! My daughter and I watch her everyday and tape it when we can't watch. Her meals are easy and yes, sometimes the ingredients are not readily available here, but you can always substitute. I have started making her meals 3-4 times a week and my husband is going crazy. He loves them. I enjoy trying new recipes and love when everyone in the family enjoys eating them. It has made mealtimes more fun around here as we try new things and it makes for great conversation between all the family members.

I haven't purchased or received her cookbook, but I have seen her television show. I found the ingredients to be mostly what was already in the kitchen with the exception, perhaps, of fresh mussels and shrimp. I think where one lives makes a difference as to whether the ingredients are easily purchased off the grocers' shelves.
