Do you feel better in the morning or in the night?

I am wondering whether you are at your best in the morning or whether you feel better later, maybe at night time. I know a lot of depression sufferers say that the morning feels a lot worse for them, but others who cannot sleep say the night is worse. I feel much better in the morning usually.

Nights are definitly better for me. I get one boost around 10 in the morning, but the rest of the morning before and after I just feel horrible. I don't start to feel good until late eveing and into the night.

I am finding I am getting more like this since I originally posted! Think it has to do with taking care of a baby

Probably, especially if you've got night nursing going on.

Well I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue PLUS a son who wakes every few hours all night long. Mornings are not so good for me. For a while afternoons were best but lately I find I get a second wind late at night when I am the last one awake. Gosh I am all messed up aren't I?

I guess I am depressed then..the worst time for me is the morning..thats when I have to deal with all the stress and the people who annoy me the most..its like at night, everything quiets down, and I can think more clearly...

Im a real night person. Im tired all day and only seem to switch on at about 10 at night. Then Im hyper and cant sleep and stay up late. My mum thinks its something to do with the time you were born. I was born at 10 pm. Maybe thats what it is.

Well I've always been a night owl. I just can't sleep that well and prefer to be up all night. I also prefer to sleep during the day. Also mornings are rough for me due to depression but also due to injuries which cause me to be stiff and it does seem worse in the morning then if I sleep during the day. Not sure why because it could be for the same amount of time but getting up in the morning I hurt worse then at night.

I always feel fresh in the morning because I need to go to work. Can't afford to feel sleepy at work otherwise boss won't be happy seeing me looking lazy ;) Back to home on early evening I feel tired. I make sure I need to have enough sleep every night so I'll be fresh once wake up in the morning. For those who cannot sleep at night will not be good for your health. Also sleeping pills not recommendable for those who can't sleep. You should consult with the doctor if you have trouble sleeping.

the doctor prescribes sleeping pills! There is little else they can do.

I am definately NOT a morning person. It takes me hours to wake up all the right parts of my body and brain. I seem to get a second wind when the sun goes down. I must be more nocturnal than most people. I love the night time only because I have an abundant supply of energy. I thought once I started working days and had to get up early in the morning this would change, but it hasn't. I get up at 6AM and go strong until around 11PM during the week.

i actually like both of them. the only time i hate is the afternoons. i like waking up in the mornings and go with my mom places. then when we come home at 2:00pm, i feel like not in the mood, but also not in a bad mood. when it is 4:30pm i start to get all happy again and i start with my jokes again. so you can say is that i like it when i wake up, 8:00am - 1/2:00pm, and i feel not in a good nor bad mood from 1/2:00pm - 4:30pm. i then start liking it.

Your depression is probably light affected and partially due to a melatonin imbalance. Melatonin is produces in the body at night and makes you feel like sleeping or in a downer mood.

...so how do you up your melanin intake, apart from sunbeds?

I feel better at night just because I'm used to being up then, and it's easier to do stuff at night since I never go anywhere during the day.

My mornings are terrible. Just don't want to get up and live when I wake up. Nights are usually way better, but I can see how people lie awake and go over and over their problems when they can't sleep...

I think I am at my best in the morning if I am alone in the house; I can write better in the morning. This is only applicable if I didn't have work the night before. Whenever I have work at night, then my best shape shifts at night.

Well, sometimes its unavoidable that we feel depressed for the day..but for the health its not a good side, i believe in Meditation at morning which will balance our mind and helps to be normal at situations

I usually find I feel so much better in the morning, the day drags me out and I find it tiring. The morning is the start to a new day when I can start fresh and forget about the day before.

I feel better in the night. I am too sleepy in the morning. I have always felt better at night, it is like I get a rush of adrenaline when the sun goes down.

I'm a night owl, put it down to being conceived on the other side of the world lol- so working my that time zone I'm fine. lol .But to be honest its the only time i get to myself as kids are asleep, also if i get 8 hrs sleep i wake up tired (if u know what i mean?) 5-6 hours does me fine.

Morning and early afternoons are the worst for me. In the morning I just don't want to get out of bed and once I do it takes me hours to even push myself enough to do anything. In the evening I seem to be alright except for the fact that I have trouble going to sleep at night.

I feel better in the morning. Probably because I have to get up for work and there is a purpose and something to do. Come 6 o'clock at night when i get home to a cold empty flat is when I start to feel depressed and this generally gets worse the longer the night goes on till I fall asleep at about 3 or 4 in the morning.
