Worst Babysitting Experience?

Well as cute as children are, there can be some overwhelming times where we feel totally stressed out...perhaps it's something we can laugh about later though. By babysitting I don't necessarily mean looking after someone elses kids, you can include stories of your own children as well. Here's my story: I babysat these adorable children (4 of them ages 2-6 at the time). Anyways, one day after we had gotten a lot of rain we decided that we'd take a little walk down the street. There is a field near by and the oldest boy decided that he'd take off because he "saw something" in the field (I yelled for him to come back but apparently he didn't hear me...I KNOW he did though!). Anyways, his sister took off after him too so I was left with the 2 youngest kids with me and 2 out in the field. I kept yelling for them to come back...finally they looked at me with a bit of a worried look/smirk on their face. Well they were STUCK out there! Their feet had sunk so far into the mud that their little legs could not move! Anyways, I told the two youngest children to stay put while I went and dug out their older siblings lol. Anyways, I got stuck out there too and when I lifted my leg I left behind a running shoe. I was totally lost and didn't know what to do. Luckily the children I was babysitting were my neighbours and my parents happened to show up outside. I flagged them over and they helped me out luckily, I don't know what I would've done without their aid! In the end I had very cold and sore feet lol.. One of those stories that I can laugh about now, but was so angry at the time! The family felt so bad about it that they even sent me flowers the next day lol. I guess they didn't want me to quit the job. I loved those kids too much to quit anyways!

When I was 15 I volunteered to babysit for free for a family thru the church we went to that couldn't afford a babysitter. They had two children that were probably 6 and 8. They were a little strange, but that was oky. We played some games and had dinner and I got them to bed. After they were settled I called a friend, while I was on the phone I heard a huge POP! I look down and see that one of the kids had crawled out of bed and cut the phone cord with siccsors! He said I was bothering him by talking. The worst part was that it was the only phone in the house so the parents showed up shortly after that pannicked because we weren't picking up the phone. They were furious with me, saying it was irresponsible of me to be on the phone while watching the kids. I tried to explain that the children had been put to bed, but they didn't want to hear it. The father gave me a ride home which was so uncomfortable, needless to say they never called me again.

I also babysat for a family of 4, and while they were a handful, they were the sweetest. My worst story has be from another family, I think I only sat for them once. The oldest was a boy, probably... gee he's like 19 now...so maybe 11 then. He had such separation anxiety at 11, he threw himself down the stairs! Fortunately he was fine, but I don't think I would have sat for them again, even if they had asked.

I baby-sat for my Aunt & Uncle. They had 5 boys and 2 of them were identicla twins. They twins were in diapers at the time and could poo at will(I swear they could!) and would wait until one of their brothers were doing something that they shouldn't do, like playing tag on the roof of the house or playing chicken with the semi-trucks whose lot was next door to just fill their diapers with the most digusting form of toxic waste imaginable. If I wasn't right ther to change it as soon as they were done, they would re-grout the floor& paint the walls. As soon as one was cleaned up, the other one fouled himself! They are adults now. I still don't know how they didn't die from all the stunts they pulled.

I would have to say that the worst I have ever had to deal with was when I was watching 3 boys all age 3. They were all potty trained, they just needed to be reminded sometimes that they need to go to the bathroom. Well one day I happened to notice that my trash can was blowing down the driveway, and the boys were watching cartoons. As I was getting ready to go get my trash can, one of the boys said he had to go potty. Well of course I told him he could go in the bathroom. I was only outside for about 2 minutes. When I came in, the boys were all standing in the living room, side by side, pants down, all peeing on my couch!! I was so mad. I had never in my life seen anything like that. At the end of the day when they were all getting picked up, I let each of the parents know what had happened. Nobody even said anything. They all acted like it was no big deal. To me it was. I spent many days scrubbing my couch trying to get that pee smell out of it.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. So far my daughter is a good girl at six months. And I remember babysitting once, but I never had any difficulties before.

My worst babysitting experience believe it or not was with one child and he was 10 at the time; I was 17. He lived with his grandparents and I was to pick him up at the community pool. They said if I wanted to I could take him back home or we could stay there all day. Well we did go back to their home, big mistake. This kid once there was a royal nightmare. Threw his clothes all over the place, when I told him to pick them up he then started throwing things at me including food. He decided then to moon the whole neighboorhood by running out side bare naked. I managed to get him inside and into his room but in the mean time he kicked and hit me. Once he was in his room he stayed there all of 60 seconds. He came running out at least with underwear on though. When I went to block his path he picked up a piano seat and went to throw it through the sliding glass doors. I managed to get that away from him and received another good kick to my shins for it. Again I got him in his room and this time I held the door shut, didn't have much choice. I managed to grab the cordless phone and called my sister who came over to help. I never had a child act like that before. When the grandparents got home they asked how he was. Now normally with a kid even if they aren't perfect I would say they were fine. THis one I let them know exactly what he did. The grandmother just looked at the boy and said in a sing song voice "Oh were you bad for her?" I was so glad never to baby sit for them again.

Okay mine is back when I had first started watching my brothers and sister. One brother was 10 maybe and the other 3 or 4. Anyway, they started playing and got a little silly and when I told them to calm down my 10 year old brother slipped and fell. I was so scared and wqent over to see if he was okay...He was bleeding from his chin. I was terrified. Called my parents and they came home. They had to take him to get a few stiches. It was so scary for me at the time because I had only been watching them for a few weeks. Now I tease him about it sometimes. :)
