We are working on our family tree but it isn't always easy. Some of the family members love to change their personal histories. THey also loved to move around alot and tell tall tales. It makes it difficult to track them down. The spelling of the name doesn't help since some would change that since it's a fairly common name. All in all it is a struggle to find anything where you can make it all match up.

It is not uncommon for a name to change because of misspelling, transcribing errors or the person writing the name spelt it the way it sounded. Always check for variations of the name you are looking for. For example: Lambert, Lampert, Lamprey, Lampray. There is always a grain of truth in the stories and tall tales. We have one lady that seems to have reported her age differently each time she was asked yet she was always married to the same guy and had the same children. lol At least you now know it is not only your family with these little quirks.

Start with what you know. Start with yourself and then work your way outward. I highly recommend using Family Tree Maker Program or another computer program for tracking and recording your findings.
