Do you own a car in China?

I am now living in Beijing. Two years ago I bought a car, but now its price has dropped to 2/3 of the level when I bought it. The petrol keeps rising and I almost find driving a luxury unaffordable. What's wrong with the car industry in China? Is there really so much profit room for the big price jump? I doubt it, but it did happen.
