My computer is automatically restarting itself randomly... sometimes it would work for whole day continuously without any pbm but sometimes it would start restarting randomly while working or in idle, ... worse, sometimes the cpu runs but there will be no display.. i even get blue screen errors (each time different error) sometimes... i tried formatting my hard disk, checking the hard disk for errors with 3rd party software, removing add on cards, changing ram and power supply units, nothing solved it .... i dont think there is a pbm with heat sink since the pbm occurs even while starting the comp after it was inactive for a long time (and at earlier morning)... when i gave it for service they couldnt do anything since it never restarted when it was with them for a whole week!!! I dont know where the pbm is ... i have intel d865gbf motherboard, pentium 4 2.4 GHz with HT 512 ddr400 ram nvidia geforce 6200 card creative x-fi sound card 1 dvd reader and 1 cd writer Any solutions?? I am just waiting for the problem to become regular so that i can give it for service.....

Here are some of of the possibilities: 1.) Loose or defective IDE/SATA cable 2.) Your hard disk has error and need some repairs using defrag and scan disk 3.) Your CPU fan is clogged up with dust.

The same happened to me. I think the power button of your computer has got pressed. You can check this when the next time it happens. Turn off the ups and if your computer automatically starts then you have the problem I am saying. Press the power button two three times when this happens next time.

Are you running a good Anti-Virus program with up to date virus definition files? I would highly recommend you start with that, if you aren't. Many viruses and worms cause a PC to randomly reboot on its own. It could be a virus.
