Managing to live in the West, feeling very Isolated. 'Perth' being the most Isolated city in the WORLD. Continually yearing for Scotland & it's People. Working & saving, for Trips 'home' every 3-years. Youngest children were still at School. Trying to have short-weekend-holidays while living there, was hopeless. Too many miles to travel, just to get to another part of the State. Bush surroundings everywhere. Very un-like our Native Land of Scotland.!!! Then Australian Iron & Steel closed down, in 1982. Causing my Husband to become depressed. We moved over to Adelaide Sth Aust. Hoping to be closer to the Eldest Members of our Family. the Eldest Daughter had joined the Air-lines by then. Based in Melbourne, Victoria. Husband got some Temporary Employment, but missed his 'buddies' from the West. So off we went AGAIN. Back to (Perth.W.A.) The heat was getting too much for me there, as I was un-well. Off we went to Canberra, boarding the Over-land Train, which travels right over from Perth to Sydney. Canberra, being a much cooler part of this Continent. Even had SNOW in winter.!! But once again, we found it difficult to settle properly. Family had spread themselves out across this 'Huge' Land, by this time. Settling down to Adult Pursuits. Grand-children were arriving & we missed out on getting to know them properly. Apart for short visits. Causing much expense to the Travellers. Arriving back again to Adelaide, a few years ago. Great-Grand-children were being produced by this time. Hankering for our Homeland Now. Deciding to leave Australia all-to-gether. Abandoning our Dreams of a Co-hesive Family life.!! Too Old & Failing Health worries now. Years of Struggle to do the Best for our Children.!!! Now never seeing them. Loneliness has been hard to bear.
