I have been suffering from PTSD for over 17yrs and some days it doesn't seem to get any easier. I have been working with a pychologist for several years, which I have to say has helped a lot. But how does one get through it, without loosing sight of what you've gained over the years, like a wonderful family.

That is one thing that is so very difficult to get over - and most of it depends on what the cause of it was - whether from abuse, loss of a close loved one or any of the other issues that this can stem from. For me - I have lived with it since I was a child and yes it's been very difficult to deal with even with having a supportive doctor. I tend to try to stay away from those that put me in a very bad place in my life - while I may still have to see them every now & then - I try to surround myself with my family - as in my husband and our 2 boys. Knowing that I have been able to get such a wonderful man in my life - has made a huge difference for me. Even if he understands at times that things may get rough again. He's still here and does all he can to help me get through the bad times!! I don't think this is something that you can really get completely over - at least in my situation I can't since there were family members involved - they won't go away so I just take each day as it comes and try to make the best of life!!! I wish you well and know exactly how you are feeling!!!
