Do Writers of My Lot Take into Concideration the Responses from Someone from ..

When I met an Italian, on the Internet, I couldn't help but see that most of his conversations were in very short clips. People in other countries cuts out all the words that are unnecessary, that we use here in the United States to form our sentences. Does My Lot take that into consideration? Yes I believe they do. The whole reason, for My Lot, so they say, is to get everyone together in conversations from all over the world. Can we discount responses that are short and to the point? I think not, and we can't always know, that they are responding without reading the subject, or just replying in the way they know how. What is your opinion on this?

I hope they do take that into consideration. I know that I try to. If I were communicating in Hindi, or Italian, or Romanian, or any one of the myriad of languages you come across here, I know I couldn't do as well as many of the people who post in a language that is not their native tongue, so I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt if it seems like they are at least attempting to answer the discussion topic. I'm with you on this point, I wish your post was mandatory reading for mylotters. Something else too. Many people for whom non-English speakers have better grammar and spelling than Americans. Sad but true.

That's true, I have notice that some have very good grammer compared to some of the English repliers. Thank you for the nice comment. I think that when giving an answer or making a point, it doesn't matter how broken their english is, it can still be understood.

You know, I just read my post above and cringed at the horrible construction of the last sentence-- kinda ironic given what we were talking about. What i meant to say was that a lot of people who don't speak English as their native tongue, type better than many native speakers. I'm living proof!

Good question. A lot of them speak English, but not well enough to use it the way we do. That is why it seems like a child is answering. But,they are trying. Some do not read the post, they copy someone elses response. Pick your friends wisly. Do not accept everyone. Go through it occassionally, and weed it out. That way you can stick to people that you know that you will be having a normal conversation with.

well us english is difficult to understand for new people like me!! but i try to answer..i am happy that mylot as the people like you help us to improve our english!! sometimes i trace the exact subject behind the topic by the response because some words are very difficult to understand!! this process is very time consuming but i love this because in one topic you get many new words which are use widely in english conversation!!

Well that is great..that's a good way to pick up more words in your english vocabulary. The Italian I mentioned in my starting question, was a 17 year old kid that was hungry to speak better english, he came into a chatroom and latched onto me and my husband to teach him. He kept a word book near him, so he could answer what I said..then I would explain the meanings. I had to explain allot to him because I am good at using slang..lol so I had to give him more meanings for what I used. You seem to do very well. Your method is the best way to learn better english. Read and write.

i think many of the people may not see the responses but some people who asked doubts may see them.

That could very well be true, but I do..I'm nosey and love to see how people respond. I see no sense in starting a conversation if you aren't going to follow it. I have a big inquireing mind..and need to know..lolol
