You could buy a Rosetta Stone cd it teaches from basic or level 1 Japanese up to level 3 or the expert way of communicating nihonggo.

Well, if you don't want to spend money and learn (there's always interactive CDs for any and ever language, which help you with pronounciations.), the best way is to search web pages on line for help. My sister is learning Jap that way so that she can read mangas and watch un-subbed and dubbed animes. Here's the links she's using: http://www.learn-japanese.info/ And there's a forum-like page where you can interact with others like you to learn jap: http://www.learn-japanese.net/ Also, there are courses and softwares almost everywhere in the world to help you out - try this demo site: http://www.linkworldlanguages.com/japanese.htm It has all languages, including japanese. The real course is around 9 UK dollars. Hope this helps

I suggest you invest on a Pimsleur CD. They have Japanese on their long list of other languages you can learn. I got interested because they say their technique has been used by spys who needed to learn foreign languages. Haha. Anyway, I find their technique very effective and it's fun to learn it their way. Try it.
