still hoping for a remission

I've been suffering from Lupus since 1997. My life has been dependent on medications sice then. My medications are prednisone, plaquenil, immuran which has side effects. I heard from some people about their remissions and I've been longing for it. I don't want to take anymore of these medications. How will you know if you have a remission? I want to have a normal life again. Please help.
