I was wondering if there are ppl out there that use Fentanyl pain patch and have trouble sleeping on the first night after putting on the patch? I have been using the patch for about a year and use 75mg and always have problems sleeping the first night after putting it on. I take an extra flexeral and Klonopin on these nights to help me sleep, but it takes awhile for them to work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this problem? And pleae don't suggest not using the patch. My pain is at to high of a level to quit. Thank you in advance for your help.

My dad is adicted to fentanyl patches, avinza, oxycontin, and any other pain medicine. Be careful, and take them EXACTLY as perscribed and never open them up and put the gel in your mouth. My dad gets perscribed Lunesta but it is somewhat addictive. I have insomnia and Rozerem is the only sleeping pill not considered a controlled substance by the FDA because it will do nothing for a person (ex not get them high) is ease them to sleep. It doesn't make you overly sleeping, it only ALLOWS you to sleep if you'd like. It's really nice. Mention it to your doctor and see what he/she says.

My doctor has brought it up once. Right now I have to take vicodin for daily pain along with flexeril for muscle spasms. I am trying to hold off on the fentanyl for a couple more years, but am interested in it as it will be on my pathe between now and my end.. Your sleeping issues aren't that unusual, from what I know. When you feel better you have more energy, and these opiates will rev your metabolism slightly, which will make you sleepless for a while, but is nice because so many other things will make you put on weight!
