Can Coldplay become a great band?

As we know, Coldplay's fans, they have a great style, great cd's, and a good live perfoming.
Can we expect to see them turn into one of the greatest band of history?
Many critics have compared them with U2, be they have a completely diferent music style.

I think they are pretty great, mass popularity shouldn't be the what makes them one of the greatest.
I guess mass popularity does mean that they make more money and hence keep going for longer.

aren't they already a great band? last time i checked they were:) i think they are amasing,i simply love them...and i must say that for me,coldplay was,it is and always will be the greatest band ever! U2 is a good band indeed,nut they are a different genre alright

What are you talkng about !! They are already a great band, with a huge fan base .. And going by the mass popularity, they are the second most popular band contemporarily , after U2 ...

i dont think become the greatest band but can become a great band.they are infact very similar to U2 ,u cannot argue by saying their style is different but by the way the humm is very similar to bono.but then they have what it takes to reach the top so thats why i believe that they have the potential to become a great band but definitely not the greatest band ,because there are far too many great bands in the world competing for that spot like the rollin gstones, the beattles,U2 and pink floyd,these four are the fab four and the best on the top of the world of rock music.this frankly my opinion
