How to Make Kids Love School?

i think it has been a problem of many parents how to instill in their children the love to study and go to school. as children, they have more interest in playing than in reading books or listening to classroom discussions. one thing my parents did when i was still a kid was that they pay me everytime i get a perfect score or a near perfect score in my quizzes and assignments. of course i make it a point to study and read so that i can get a penny and buy my favorite candy.hehehhe.. that's how things was for me. and i think that will still work today.

I do not think that is the best way to get your child to love school. I have a 10 year old daughter and she really does not like school. She loves to go to see her friends and for the social aspect but not for the learning. She struggles with homework, gets frustrated very easily while doing it. Some kids just do not like school. She is in many activities-- and knows that in order to stay in these she needs to do her best in school and have good grades. I do not pay her- I do not think this instills good values in children. Kids have to learn that it is their responsiblity- just like adults have jobs-- They need to do the best they can and learn as much as they can.
That is just my thought! It might work well for some parents to do rewards or payments. I can see saying if you do well on this we can go to a movie- but not here is $$ for getting 100's.

thanks.. i still think, rewards help in way. it motivates children knowing they will be rewarded for a work well done. it's really hard to convince children to like school with their young age. rewarding them may not make them REALLY like school but who knows they might still go to school not because they like it but because their is a reward if they do. that's better than seeing them drop off from school. well, this technique won't be as effective to others..
