Unsung Actors - My Take (Michael Biehn)

A List Actors always seem to get the media attention and therefore are more well known to us but aren't necessarily better. Let's face it, to be an "A" List actor, you may have to be a good actor, but you've also got to get lucky. There are a lot of actors out there who are good but just don't get the media attention or attention. Whether due to timing, looks, unlucky movie choices, etc. Something keeps them from the limelight. My Personal Choice for Unsung Actor is Michael Biehn. I love his acting, but for years didn't know his name. When I finally put together who he was, I went on IMDB and was amazed at all the parts he had. I was literally sitting there saying "That was him? I loved that guy!" Now, I'm betting a lot of you still don't know who I'm talking about so here's some help. The Terminator - Kyle Reece Aliens - Lt Hicks Tombstone - Johnny Ringo The Abyss - Lt Coffey TV Show - Mag 7 (loved this show!) - Chris Larabee (Everyone with me yet?) After I realized who he was, I started watching all of the movies he'd been in and while some are questionable, most are really good, just not ones that you would have heard of. Still a bit upset because I can't find Adventure Inc anywhere :( I think sometimes we miss out on some really good movies that are made because they don't have the 'A List' names in them and just don't get media play. Thoughts, comments ?

Your'e talking my language. I like many of the lesser known actors. I like Mr Biehn. Most of the ones I like go back to the 50's, 60's and 70's. These were the actors/actresses that made the movies work for the bigger known names. IMDB is a great site for discovering all about movies. I will take the "B" list actors anytime...they are the grease that makes the big wheels turn. This was especially true in many western movies, which are my favorite kind. I loved Tombstone, Aliens and The Abyss. Great topic.

Thank you :) Older actors, not going back too far, but he did a lot of the old westerns - Sam Elliott - he is just incredible!

I love Paul Bettany. He may be considered A-List now, but I like him before. His accent of course is gorgeous, and his mannerisms are so cute. If you don't know him: Main character in Wimbledon, Chaucer in Knight's Tale, the imaginary friend in A Beautiful Mind.

He definitely counts. He's one of those that once you mention the parts, you're like, oh yeah! I loved him in Knight's Tale, great movie :) I haven't seen Wimbledon, I'll have to watch it.

My choice for best unsung actor is Lawrence Fishborn. This guy is good in every movie I've seen him in. Even when I didn't like the movie I still liked his performance. I don't know why he's not an A Lister, but he definitley should be.

I would definitely agree with him. He is an incredible actor and completely underrated. I think to be "A" List you have to be one of the beautiful people....stupid if you ask me, you'd think it would have something to do with acting ability. I'm pretty psyched, I just found a couple more of Michael Biehn's movies on Ebay including one that I had on VHS but not on DVD. !
