Is beleving in a cause so strongly a bad thing?

According to the dictionary a martyr is one who suffers for principle or for a cause they beleive in or someone who dies or would die for a noble cause that they stand behind and beleive with all their might. I've been considered a martyr for the cause I truly beleive in and have even referred to myself as one. When you beleive in a cause so deep that you feel it in every shred of your being and at times it hurts to the very core of who you are does it make it wrong to feel this strongly in a cause? I keep up with the issues surrounding animal rights and in particular feral cats and stray cats from around the world. There are alot of injustices towards animals and abusers get away often times with nothing more then a warning. The ethical and humane treatment of feral cats and stray cats is such a cause for me; to fight with all my being and to shed the misconceptions that arise with a failure to realize that man has often contributed to the over-population of homeless animals. I've tried to pull away from thias cause at times only to be pulled in even deeper. Now if I knew that tomorrow if I traded my life knowing that there would be no more homeless animals on this planet or stray cats and that all feral cats would be treated with respect and taken care of then is this wrong tgtdiu]k]o feel this deeply for a cause? Or does this make me a crazy person in the eyes of society?

You're not crazy at all..except that you're crazy about your cats the way I am about animals..I cannot stand to see an animal mistreated in any way..I admire you for standing up to a wonderful cause like this instead of rallying for some political party. One day I have a dream to be able to help wildlife and all animals. You are VERY lucky that you have the home, the room, and the means to do what you're doing...keep it up, all those wonderful cats are relying on you.

I say do not worry about what society considers you, because no matter what road you choose, there will be those who agree with you and those who don't. If you feel such a strong pull towards this cause, then I feel that it is what you were meant to do. I think knowing this, that is you decided you were going to "quit" caring for the feral cats, and went and got an office job, that you would be tormented knowing you were not doing what was in your heart and in a matter of weeks or days you would be back home doing what you are doing now!

You are not a crazy person in anyones eyes. You are a human with your own beliefs and rights.

No feralcat I do not think it makes you a crazy person, It just makes you one of the rare individuals who can dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their cause. The world needs more people like you who have a caring nature and who realise that we as humans are the cause for so many of the bad things on this planet. I think that as long as you know your own boundaries, so that you do not make your self sick in the process, you will bring about better things in this world just by caring so much. Even if it may not seem that way sometimes.
