What do you think about homeschooling in 2006?

My precious angels
I am tempted to homeschool my girls. I will not send them to a public school, because I want the best for them. I want them to stay close with God, I want them to have decent friends that aren't in "gangs", and that don't try to kill people, and I want them to grow up with children that share the same important values as they do. However, we live in a small town, and the parochial school that we were planning on sending them to may be closing down. My next plan would be homeschooling. I know that it is so important for children to socialize, and if you keep them in too much of a bubble, they will fight to escape...and in turn, end up hanging around bad crowds anyhow. So, if a safe, good school is not an option, homeschooling would be a good thing as long as you involve the children in plenty of activities, such as dance class, recreation department activities, etc. Let them socialize. One nice thing about city-wide groups, clubs, and organization, is that the children get to experience other people, but the friendship level usually stays at the level of "just at dance class", or "just at baseball practice". You won't have to worry about your child becoming extremely close to a person that could end up hurting their wellbeing. That is my opinion...and here is a picture of my precious little girls.
