As in the other response you recieved the orginated in Buffalo New York. My Uncle lives there and my family is from NY so we know all about them LOL but it is surprising how many people do not know this! You will get a kick out of this I was out watching football wearing a Buffalo (football) sweatshirt and someone got on the wing discussion I am standing right there in the shirt and made some smart comment and they still did not get the connection!!

omg. that's crazy. people are really not all there. i know quit a few people that doesnt know much about buffalo wings. but now that i think about it. it makes a lot of sense. thanks for responding and sharing your story..

The full name is Buffalo Style Wings. The originator of them was the owner of a small bar in Buffalo, New York. He used to serve them to his customers. They were very spicy. By the way, the proper name for the animal you are referring to is American Bison.
