I like saltwater much better than fresh. More species, bigger fish and you can work the tides. Prefer live bait...shrimp,crabs,pinfish,clams.

I too use live shrimp...but I admit I am unfamiliar with pinfish as my husband and I always used a castnet...are those similar to piggy perch?

my son'-n-law's step-dad has used piggy perch and actually cut the dorsel fin off cause the fish end up with sharp spikes through the roof of their mouth otherwise...he only does it though when he is baiting the hook...

Hey I'm with you on that one Lady. I love both fresh and salt water fishing, but my preference would have to be salt water fishing. Because I reckon there is a lot more variety in salt water. I prefer live bait to lures because I like to just put the live bait on the hook then cast it out and then just sit down and relax and wait. Oh and I just like to fish off piers, jetties or just off the rocks, I'm not really a deep sea fisherman i.e; going out in a boat etc..

I'm with you there...my husband taught me to use a cast net...funny thing is it always landed in the shape of a heart and I always got more shrimp than he did...I agree...live bait and piers...nothing like bein in kist the right place to get a few nice reds or even some flounder

I don't have a preference as I just love to fish - anytime - anywhere - it's always relaxing and fun at the same time. If we are fishing locally then most often - we use lures. But I so love to go Deep Sea Fishing and when you are way out there on the boat - I prefer to use live bait - because you usually end up catching more rather than using a lure. Of course we were lucky enough to take our oldest on his 1st Deep Sea Fishing Trip - alas didn't go so well for him - as he got so sick - except that it was funny in the end because it was like after he got sick off the boat - boy the fisherman just started pulling them in so they gave our son a reward - for surviving the trip and for feeding the fish some really good food that apparently allowed the people fishing some serious luck with it!!!!

Lets Fish - A relaxing sport and time to be with someone you love
I love to fish salt or fresh water fishing. So far have used just live page in the ocean and have used live bait and lures in fresh water. My husband is teaching me how to use the different lures. I have to laugh and taunt him when I go home and have caught something and he hasn't. giggles.

I am both a fresh and salt water fisherman. In fresh water I typically fish with different artificial bait when going for bass and I use both live and artificial for trout. In salt, I always use live bait as I usually fish from a long pier that extends out into the Pacific Ocean a short ways out. It gets shoulder to shoulder there when salmon season comes around. A new salt water experience for me was Deep Sea fishing. I was in the DR recently and chartered a boat with a few buddies for half the day. It was amazing because other than the tropical waters being so nice, we pulled in a 7 1/2 foot 200 pound blue marlin. The locals told us it was small for marlin standards but even that couldn't take away the exitement.

I also like to fish in both kinds of water, but it's always more exciting for me and my crew when we sail into deep salted waters. I prefer to use live baits because they attract the attention of other fishes more easily, though lures also work sometimes.
