How can you stop someone from talking?

I had this boardmate that is so talkactive. She always speak of somethings that is definitely irrelevant and not of my interest.She is telling stories about someone we never know. She keeps on talking and talking without sensing we are getting irritated. You know, there are times that i want a peaceful and restful environment but she is ruining it always! Everytime we are trying to stop her, she insisted to talk and even say throw bad comments on us. She is arrogant in everything she says, she pretends that she is all knowing all the time. Being with her is a doomed.How can i deal with this circumstance?
