What to say to a child if she ask you why th sky is blue? My daughter ask me yesterday night the question: Why the sky is blue not red? She had 6 years old and sincerely i can't give her the scientific answer ori don't really know how simply i can give it to her. If you have an answer let me know

As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.
Much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky and whichever direction you look in, some of this blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.
