Does learning about different cultures make us more tolerant?

The internet has made our world much smaller. With the internet we can find information about different cultures and communicate with people we would never have been able to communicate with before. But does this learning increase understanding, or can it fuel intolerance

I feel it is interesting to learn about other cultures and peoples. I don't feel it will fuel intolerance, but it will increase understanding of our differences.
