Can anyone help me understand the stress of Irish names?

How come names like McInerny and McAfee stress the 'Mac' prefix?? At first I thought it had something to do with the following vowel, but then I thought of McInnes... I know nothing of the rules, so those of you who do, please enlighten me.

I just now Know Mc is an Irish word for me its easy to spell. ok bye
