Premonitions of death: can they be true?

One day I was driving, and suddenly, without any reason, the car's windshield broke and became like grains of corn scattered inside the car. Upon reaching home we got the news that my wife's mother just died the same time the windshield broke. Coincidence? One morning, a couple friend of mine noticed a huge black butterfly sitting on the husband's pillow, that night he died of an accident. Coincidences or premonitions? any similar experiences?
