Winter Returns to the East

(AP) - A cold front was expected to bring snow mixed with rain Tuesday to an area extending from the Tennessee Valley to the central Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic states. Snow also was forecast for the Great Lakes region and light snow was possible over parts of New England. Rain was predicted for parts of the Pacific Northwest. Clear skies were forecast for most of the Southeast and Southwest. Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a lot of - 12 degrees at Alamosa, Colorado, to a high of 88 degrees at Santa Ana, California.
