I get the lion to roar and blow out the candle, then I swing myself until I can get on the limb and untangle myself, or I just let the candle burn through the rope and fall on top of the lion's head their by rendering him useless, while I quickly unravel myself and run away, or climb back up the tree, but Lions can climb can't they? So I run away. :)

my mistake? i never knew you had this riddle explained visually.. maybe i was so sleepy that time so i just wrote ASCII chars..?
anyway, i have 2 answers:
#1 do some MacGyver analysis/moves.. i'm afraid i could only figure that out when i'm really in that situation. sigh
or
#2 do some old school cartoon tricks like tweety's.. singing "? rock a bye baby on the tree top.." to the lion..
then wait till i fall while continuing the singing.. creep like a worm going to the candle and burn the rope..
