Why do people waste money in buying gaming consoles????

The Sony Playstation 3 is going to cost $600.00. In the desolate economic climate of post-apocalyptic 2006, I'm thinking that's going to be a lot of money. Now, it's true that at E3 Sony was boasting the Playstation 3 could crank out 1.8 TFLOPS, or 1.8 trillion FLOPS. If that many FLOPS were piled together they would fill the Grand Canyon, assuming each FLOP were the size of a muskrat. So what do gamers want from all that money and FLOP? Just ask them. I feel that they are wasting their money. What do you feel??

Yes!!! You both are correct. PC is better than gaming console.

It seems that the Playstation 3 craze is over. If you go on Ebay and search for Playstation 3, you can see the 60GB PS3 auction ending at a price of under $700. People who don't sell on Ebay, ight be thinking, "Yeah, so what the seller is still making a profit.". The seller appears to have profited because the retail price for a PS3 is $5999.99+$50 tax. It seems that the seller profited $50, but instead he did not make or lose any money at all. Ebay charges a fee for posting, and another fee, which is a percentage of the final value fee. Paypal also charges a f ee for receiving payment. The total fees + shipping would equal to the amount of about $50. The seller just wasted his time and effort. He also risk the chance of getting a negative feedback if the PS3 he sold is defective, which is a nightmare for any Ebay seller Hopefully by the end of 2007, the price would have drop $100 so that more people can afford the 60GB one. People buy consoles because they are easy to deal with rather than computer. For computer you have to constantly upgrade the video card to keep up with the latest games, but for console each game that comes out is made to work fine. For PC there are a lot of games that are incompatible with older video cards or that they are too laggy. There are games that I would rather play on the PC such as first person shooter games and games such as StarCraft or WarCraft.

I deal with console gaming with my job and for me, the $600 PS3 is really a good deal. It's not only a game console, it's actually an entertainment media system. You can do lot's of things in the PS3 aside from playing games. Let me give you some example: 1. You can browse the Internet using the built in browser of PS3. 2. You can use it as a computer by installing Linux (Fedora,Yellow Dog, Ubuntu or Gentoo). 3. You can play Blu-ray movies, DVDs and CDs as well. 4. You can still play all your Playstation and Playstation 2 games. There are many more to mention. For me, it's really a great deal to have all these features.

i think people who buy such gaming consoles wants these products and they dont really care that much if this would cost them several hundred bucks. We should respect these peoples' wants and sony is just doing their business. let's cut them some slack. (o^_^o)

Actualy i think that this is more of your opinion. In my opinion, the Playstation 3 is more of a hardcore gaming machine. It's for hardcore gamers. While some other people make different things such as the Wii which isn't for just hardcore but for everyone. The Playstation 3 is a great console i gotta give them that, but they are way ahead of their time making them bleed money...
