Reading--A thing of the past?

Do you find most people don't read a whole lot anymore? Years ago, you would always find my dad with a book in his hand, but I don't see much of that anymore? Does anyone else here see this trend progressing? Do you think it has anything to do with the increased use in the interenet, TV, and video games?

I think computers, the Internet, video games, DVDs, cable TV, etc do have to do with less reading, of books anyway. I definitely get my news from news Web sites rather than paying for an entire newspaper, when I only read parts of it. I'm a writer and spend a lot of time staring at a screen, so my eyes are pretty tired so reading doesn't seem very appealing. But I'm trying to read more these days. Reading will never be a thing of the past; if anything people are reading more these days, they're just doing it on computer screens (Web sites, blogs, etc.)
