No matter how you feel about Bush, the "Bush Lied", "no war on Iraq" contingent is mute. The war in Iraq is a regional war and always has been. Our gov and military have been trying, or more so, wanting to keep it a regime change within Iraq only, a proportional response only... BUT... this has not been possible b/c of Iran and Syria funding the anti-democractic forces in Iraq. Iran and Syria have been supplying the bad guys with weapons and giving them a safe haven at the borders. Thoughtful people cannot argue with this. "Failure in Iraq will be a disaster" was the most important part of the speech. It will be a bloodbath, then after the bloodbath, Iran will make use of the PETRO DOLLARS TO further islamo-terror activities AROUND THE WORLD. The mid-east will be disrupted by al-queda. Also Iran will use oil as a tool to cut off supplies where possible... oil that is not theirs to take over. Yeah the war is about oil, but not what you may think, its about oil as a weapon. this whole global war on terror will never end until there is a show down with the countries that deny culpability for islamo-terror... unfortunately Iran is the at the head of this snake. Despite the setbacks of our brave troops, blood and money spent in Iraq, this is not the time to quit.

Some good points, but I'm not sure where the government got evidences to justify that Iraqi, Iranians, and Syrians are bad guys, and we are the good guys who always make good decisions and do good things. There are enough of us who go around and mock that media in mainland China is strongly controlled and censored. This is exaggeration. The characteristics of Chinese media is different than American media. However, there are far more freedom than what Westerners think in China (one of the exceptions being "freetibet.org") The reason I'm saying this is that there's possibility that American media is acting as propaganda for current administration. It can be censored more than what most of us assume. I hope we don't offend the intelligence of Iraqis, Iranians, and Syrians, and let's let them do what is right in their judgment. America has acting as a global police since the end of WW2, however, sometimes can't we just not mind our own business unless a need comes up otherwise.

well that would be a good point if it were true... our american media is totally against Bush, it is really a fifth column almost. Only a handful of us see the real threat. Our media's reputation is depending on us lossing this war. as far Syria and Iran... do you want the Mullahs of Iran to control world oil supply??(not just oil for the US, but for the WORLD). It is not for them to take, we are trying to have a un-haraased of flow of oil to the marketplace. The grown-ups know who the good guys and bad guys are here.... its a no-brainer.

For benefit of the members, in your belief, what makes someone a good guy or a bad guy?

True! Even though your posting is worded in a biased and condescending manner. You've put in some effort in your posting. America has to persist and try to minimize the damage and instability this person in the Oval Office has started. If America withdraws now, it would have been better to NOT to have started Operation Iraqi Freedom in the 1st place. Based on your post, I can see that you're a Republican and probably one of the lingering Bush supporters. Fine. That's your business. Politic is a sensitive issue like race, gender, and religion. We can all disagree, and perhaps that's how our human society continually evolves striving for advancement and improvement.

Very well said! I too think people forget the big picture. I don't like Bush but I know that we need to be there.

I just want to say thank you for posting this. I'm getting really tired of the all bashing on Bush and the war that I've been seeing and it's nice to see someone else who realizes we can't just pull out. That we can't ignore the problems over there anymore. To continue to do so would mean leaving a nest of vipers there ready to attack. We've pulled back or ignored it before and it always comes back to strike us when we least expect it. We need to stop it once and for all.

yeah there is so muchat stake... even the Arab states would probably agree. The showdown with Iran is enevitable, the Arab leaders are also preparing to deal with Iran. some of our oppostion party here has their eyes on Bush and not the real issue.
