What do you think is a good time for a 7 and 5 year old boy to go to bed? My 7 year old goes to bed at 7, but my grandfather thinks that's too early. I don't but I'm curious, if you have a child, what time do you put them to bed, or did you put them to bed around that age? My 5 year old goes to bed even earlier then 7pm because no matter what time you put him to bed, he gets up anywhere from 4:30 to 5:30 AM (usually between 5-530 though).

Wow, 7pm for your 7 year old. That seems much too early. My son, who will be 8 in a few weeks, goes to bed 8:30-9 and has to get up for school at 7:30am. However, most days he is up around 6:30am to have some time to do things before going ot school. On the weekends we let him stay up late and he sleeps in (9am or later). As for youy 5 year old, 7 pm is a good time to put him to bed. Do you think there is a reason he gets up so early? Maybe the sun shines on his face in the morning or his biological clock is a bit off? Have you tried letting him stay up late and playing with him until he is so tired he can't hold his eyes open? That may help him sleep later and get into the habit of staying in bed [ast 5:30am.

Well the 5 year old sleeps in a bunk bed in the bottom bunk and sleeps with sheets tied around the sides because he likes to pretend he's in a cave and he feels a little safer. He's always been my early riser. I've tried letting him say up later and he still gets up early no matter what time I let him stay up. I definately think his biological clock is off... I've just been having a hard time fixing it.

I hate to say it but I think they are both going to bed too early. I babysit for a ton of families, and the bedtime seems to be similar in pretty much all of them. I would say the five year old should be in bed between 8-8:30 and the 7 year old should be in bed by 9. I know this seems a bit late compared to 7, but this is what seems to be normal among most families.

my 2 oldest are 6 and 8 and since they were 3 and 5 their bed time was always 8pm. since they live with their dad and step mom we all have talked to keep their bed times the same and it has just worked out for everyone. my daughter however would stay up til the cows come home if she wasn't tired. she is usually in bed by 10pm but we are trying to get her to go to bed earlier by taking 10 to 15 minutes earlier and putting her to bed like normal. we will change the time ever 3 days so that she gets use to it faster. i would say that 8pm would be a normal time for bed.

If your child is getting up that early, perhaps putting them to bed around 8-830 would be better to allow them to sleep later. I think that 7pm is too early for the 7 yr old, too. But the 5 yr old should go to bed later than 7 to get his internal clock realigned.

We always put our kids to bed at 9 pm when they were small. Seemed to be a perfect time.

I have four children ages 10,8,7, and three. The 10 year old might get to stay up until 8:30. The others need to go to bed at 8pm.

it depends, some kids sleep in the afternoon at around 2pm until 6pm. if this is the schedule of their sleeping habit, then 9pm would do. it is okay to let the kid sleep at 7 if they are not sleeping in the afternoon.

my 2 boys (ages 2 and 4) usually takes a nap at around 2-5pm which makes them very playful when evening comes. they become sleepy at around 10 to 11 pm and wakes up at 8am in the morning.

Since it gets dark early i would say around 6-6:30 and you shouldnt put them to bed at different times either because it causes problems between the two its gets to the point like "why do i have to go to bed and he doesnt?" type of thing

Well my 8 and 4 year old go to bed between 8:30 and 9:00. They both fall asleep very quickly and they get up at a bout 7am. They on the most part do not give us trouble about going to bed we say bed time they get up and go to bed. I think it depends on the child how much sleep they need and how they do when it is time to go to bed. If they give you a hassle start them early so they are in bed when you want. If it takes them a while to fall aslepp than early seems ok to me. To me 7 seems early by the time they get home from school, does homework, eat supper you really don't seem to have time with them. Plus my 8 year old is in Cub scouts and alot of time our meetings are done at 7:30. Than again it is your child and you know what is best.
