EGG for breakfast - A healthier way to diet

egg - hard boiled egg for breakfast

I go this on Yahoo Health.... There's no better way to start your day - and shed pounds - than by eating a healthy breakfast. And here's a surprise for most dieters: Eggs are a healthy option, as long as you know how to fix them. Eggs are high in protein, surprisingly low in saturated fat and more satisfying than carbohydrates. In fact, people who had eggs and toast for breakfast ate 419 fewer calories the following day than those who had a bagel with cream cheese and yogurt, the Journal of the American College of Nutrition reports. The trick to including eggs in any healthy eating plan is to avoid cooking them in a lot of fat. For a tasty, filling meal, coat a pan with cooking spray and scramble up an egg or two with veggies; have it with a slice of whole-wheat toast, as the fiber will help you stay fuller longer. Because eggs do contain a fairly high amount of cholesterol, limit your intake to no more than seven per week. So who among you eat eggs for breakfast??? I believe the best way is to mix raw egg into a glass of chilled milk every breakfast or eat it hard-boiled, that way you will not increase your intake of fats.

I went to a homeopathic doctor, and along with supplements she gave me, I had to follow a food regime. I had to eat an egg with a piece of fruit for breakfast, same for lunch, and a sensible dinner with no foods that were harmful to my body type. She tested me by accupressure points. I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks, and my pants were getting looser, but I was never hungry, as long as I ate these foods she told me to. It was amazing. At first I had a hard time because I loved bread, but she told me to stay away from any bread that was not organic. When I tried to eat a piece of the regular bread everybody eats from the grocery store, it tasted like a mouth full of powder. It was crazy. I have been thinking about going back to this food regime.

Congratulations on your weight loss! If possible I eat wheat bread instead of the regular white breads in the grocery store. Try asking the doctor if need to change your regime because your body might get used to it and it will not work anymore. Thanks for replying!

Eeeyoo! Raw egg in milk! Yuck! LOL I don't like milk and would rather have a scrambled egg, thank you! You must be tough! Hard boiled eggs are a good afternoon snack, though. But my favorite healthy breakfast is oatmeal with fruit in it.

I used to do that back when I was a varsity swimmer and need to gain muscles. Egg contains lots of protein, the milk must be really cold and I drink it in one gulp so that I wouldn't taste it much. Thanks for replying.

egg is not highly rich in proteins.( an egg== 5-6 gms of protein) however if u boil egg for a long time ,its hard to digest that. if you are taking egg just because of protein in it then i would suggest u to eat chicken, fish , milk and its products. dont eat raw egg..it may contain bacteria ( remeber the bird flew that haunted us )which does bad morethan the good.

it might have been another old wives' tale, but i used to get really sick pretty often when i was a kid. i'd cough pretty bad, you know, and one of the home-made "medicines" i was made to take was a glass of orange juice with raw egg. believe it or not, it was delicious, and when i think about it, that medicine made me feel better. i have to agree, though, that eating eggs should be controlled because of the cholesterol thing...

I like omlets and bulls eye. Most times I take eggs in the evening. I have not tried this type of egg. I will try this one also. I like taking lots of onions with omlet. I think eggs can increase the cholesterol. I take around five eggs a week or sometimes lesser than that. I love eggs, but cut down because fear of increase fat intake. I also agree that too much eggs are no good for health. I most times eat eggs during the night time with dosa or rice. I have never tried eating eggs in the morning especially hard boiled eggs.

Yeah eggs contain cholesterol too, so it's not advisable to fry it in too much oil. I often eat omelette too with onion, mushroom & cheese. What is dosa by the way?

You are right, eggs are healthy food. This morning I learn from the report when reading newspaper(chinese) that taking the yolk of the egg is more benifit to the egg white. The yellow or reddish color of the yolk, I dont know the term in English but it is really good for the healthy of our eyes and heart. It's easy to absorb by our body. I like to take 2 fried eggs or half boiled eggs together with bread, fat free natural yogurt as my breakfast. I dont like toast. I'll try your recipe. TQ.

just refrain from eating raw eggs to prevent from salmonella bacteria. to be sure enjoy a hard boiled egg with bread & nonfat yogurt. you may enjoy the sunny side up egg too by just pouching it to the non-stick pan. i enjoy scrambled egg for breakfast too as mixing it with little fresh milk then into the nonstick pan with button mushroom, bell pepper , tomatoes & onion - so great with a garlic toast!

an egg in break fast is very good, doctors suggest eggs for the patienst as a power generating food. Infact here in pakistan ppl also like it more in winter season as its impact is hot. And there is a little specific tip, if u r out in the cold in winter etc and u dont have much clothes to cover u (like jacket, jursy etc) then u take an egg and drink it directly, I mean dont make it just buy one egg, break it and drink it, beleive me it will give u soooo much strength in cold wheather spcially if u r out or u want to go out

The eggs are healthy, but it's not if You continously eating eggs each day. You must give time to your body to digest it. The egg yolk can be dangerous to the gall. Eating only one egg per day can be ok for body. Also drinking overmuch milk can results to have some illness.it contain lactose what can be hard to digest. It's better to use products from milk like yoghourt..

Eggs can be easily digested unlike hamburgers or pork. As for milk I drink 2-3 glasses a day since I was little and I haven't experience anything. For me it's better to drink the base product (milk) than the milk product (yoghurt), because if the food is processed it contains less nutrients.

I try not to eat too many eggs per week as they do have a high cholesterol count .. I never use fat to make scrambled eggs as that makes them rather greasy for my taste ... try whisking your eggs and then then cooking slowly through in a nonstick saucepan .. add a little drop of milk and you'll get a lovely creamy result .. Or you could poach the eggs, coddle them, soft boil or loads of other ways that don't need fat .. And incidentally it's only the egg yolk that has a high cholesterol count .. so try adding more egg whites than yolks if you need to cut down on cholesterol for medical reasons .. Some of the worlds 'high society' ladies will snack on hard boiled eggs .. but they discard the yolks and just eat the whites ..

I like this one. Do I have to add milk to the egg first before cooking or just add it while the egg is on the pan? When I needed to lose weight I just eat half the egg yolk and give the other half to my husband.

Eggs - this photo represents eggs
The best and healthy way to eat eggs is with out the yolk, only egg white. Or you can have two eggs, but one yolk and scrambled. Yolk containes lots of calories. Egg white has good source of protein.

Justreal, so if we take an egg with yolk then we can get calories and protein together. Isn't it?

11 Jan 07
Maybe.. But it is proven scientifically tat an egg's nutrition is equivalent to a glass of milk.. So, rather then mixing, Drink two glass of milk.. Simple.. :)
