The earth has been subdivided into Twenty-four time Zones. Beginning at:- 0 Degrees Longitude (which passes through greenwich near London) The rest of the time zones are then identified as PLUS or Minus hour by hour round the world - eg New York is 5 Hours behind London (or GMT - 5 hours.) The time zones have specified names at various parts of the World.
