Which do you use? I have both but I rarely use my desktop. It is old and in bad need of updating. My laptop is about a year old and still runs really well. I don't think I could ever go back to a desktop again.

desktop is the best bet for me since i can get a lot more performance from it compared to similar priced laptop ... laptops are not for performance it is only for portability.. i dont mind carrying my desktop around ... besides i can do any hardware upgrades or diagnosis by myself in the desktop since opening a cabinet is way easier than opening a laptop... ofcourse when it comes to portability laptop is the sure winner

My family has never owned a laptop computer. We've had many a desktop, though *laugh* I would love to have a laptop and have the accesibility of it. My best friend has a laptop and I think that it would be wonderful to be able to get into bed and type from there the way that she sometimes does! *laugh*

I prefer desktome computers because they cost less and give better performences.. It doesnt meen that if I hade more money I wouldnt buy myself a laptop XD But if I had only 1000$ I would buy myself a desktop comuter..

It's definetly depends on your needs. and off course your mobility. currently many laptop that have performance almost similar to PC (they call it desktop replacement). but if your job really mobilized. i think you better use laptop for it. try to grab 14,1 inch laptop. =P

Can't really suggest which of the two would be most feasible to upgrade (or lest buy a new one). Both has its advantages and disadvantages. IF portability is top priority then a laptop would be the best choice, downside is, you couldn't upgrade a laptop as you would a desktop. It's really in your preference.

I don't have a laptop. I have 2 desktop computers here at home which are both working and in good condition. I would love to use a laptop but it's more expensive than a desktop :(

u usually use my laptop. i prefer it since it's mobile. since i can easily bring it where ever i go, i can do my homeworks and researches anywhere. besides, my desktop's busted right now. but even if i would have it fixed in the future, i would still prefer using my laptop.

yes you are correct that every one wants to switch to LAPTOPS from their DESKTOPS. Even i am using LAPTOP from almost 8 months and i am quite happy in working with it. Its really nice.

We have both around here but I only use my laptop. It is mostly for work as I do alot of field work and couldn't imagine trying to copy all of the data I find free hand. My children like to use the desktop and it's handy to have it as a back up. Since getting my laptop three years ago, I'm hooked and will never go back to exclusively using a desktop again. Just doesn't have the versatility that I want and need.

Both laptop and desktop are useful in their own way... One of the advantage of laptop is you can carry it anywhere in your working environment.....

We have both .. a desktop as well as the laptop. The desk top is the better of the two ... newer, faster and greater capacity. I am looking forward to when I have reached 500 rating ... then I will be able to take the laptop with me and type of discussions and response .. when I get home I can cut and paste them into the forum. I am an interstate truck driver .. sometimes gone from home for 6 days so cannot get online at those times. So once I reach the magical 500, I will be able to do things when I am having my breaks or waiting for the truck to be unlaoded and reloaded. Will make me a bit more active here on mylot ... at least that is the thinking but also means I can do things .. my partner can easily download them onto the desktop or straight here to mylot. Not saying I will be able to do a lot of course ... but better than what I am doing now. So for me they both have advantages .. if at home then it is the desktop but when away from home the laptop has lots of advantages for me.

I only have a desktop.. But this is the type of system I would like to have is both... This way I could have one for internet use, and one for storage... I would use the laptop for the internet so I was not bound to one room, and I would have a mic and a cam on it... In my next life lol. - DNatureofDTrain

desktops is good for performance, laptop is good for mobility. Each of them have advantages and disadvantages. Depends what you are looking for: for sitting home I recomand you a desktop(i preffer INTEL processors and motherboards fpr beter compatibility not AMD CPU). When you're away from home, in your car i suggest a laptop (ACER Laptops are good and cheap, Lenovo are good too). And try to use a desktop PC in a fastfood
