I think it's really difficult to label a guitar solo as "best". Best musicianship, best technique, most musical, most emotional? Perhaps. But not "best". I think that is too broad of a term. Stairway to Heaven is one of my favorite songs, but I don't know about it being the best guitar solo ever. Comfortably Numb is great as well, but again, it's hard to choose one as the best. Out of those two, I'd go with Comfortably Numb, but there are lots of other impressive guitar solos out there... I know it's overplayed, but what about Free Bird? Thin Lizzy had a lot of great guitar stuff too. Just depends on your tastes.

Both are good. Stairway is obviously overplayed. I really like Comfortably Numb, personally. I saw Roger Waters in concert and they did it live so that was definately awesome.

I love both of them, usually I prefer Pink Floyd then Led Zeppelin but in this case I think that Starway to Heaven have someting more. ... and what do you thik about "Blood on the rooftops", whith is solo guitar introduction by Steve Hacket, Genesis? It is at the same level?

I would vote for the solo in Comfortably numb moreso because its got layers and chapters within the long solo. Its almost like a story being narrated in itself. Ok so i'm partial to the story-like solos of Gilmour, mark knopfler, gary moore etc.... but i'm not gonna change that anytime soon. I would also vote for the high frequency solo in High Hopes.

I like both of the songs you mention but for me. Santanas guitar playing in his song Open Invitation is the best. I can just listen to it over and over again.

Comfortably Numb and Stairway To Heaven both are one of greatest songs and both contain one of the greatest solos ever heard. To face the reality though Stairway To Heaven still contains the greatest solo.@cyb3rjunk13,you said you did not here the stairway solo....It's a must that you should hear...when you hear it you forget every other solo....when it ends...you will say its the greatest...when you other solos you may say the are nice, good and even great....but the are still behind that Page's Heavenly solo. Thanks.

led zeppelin and pink floyd... ther both are awesome... i don't compare great songs by rating... they both are equal for me... as a guitarist i love playing both the songs... jimmy page(led zeppelin) and david gilmour(pink floyd) both are real legend... but overall stairway to heaven is great because it is played by only on guitarist but comfortably numb is played by david gilmour with roger waters... and now you compare the work and efforts made by one man in satirway to heaven and two man army in comfortably numb...

Hard choice. Even though I like Comfortably Numb better, I think I like the solo in stairway more.
