Principles in life.

Mahatma had principles in his life. I am impressed to read his own words, "I am but a poor struggling soul yearning to be wholly good- wholly truthful and wholly non-voilent in thought word and deed, but ever failing to reach the ideal which I know to be true. It is a painful climb, but the pain of it is a positive pleasure to me. Each step upward makes me feel stronger and fit for the next." Are we in a position to practice the highest ideals in our life?

I am not an Indian but am living and working in India. I had the pleasure of seeing a play about Gandhi and found it to be very inspirational and moving. A man with strong convictions and very humbled. Are we in a position to practice the highest ideals in our life? Yes, I believe we all are. Each and every one of us. The sad thing is that an absolute majority of us are too consumed with other things. Pressures brought about by life itself are all consuming and we are too busy trying to just survive; let alone finding time for spiritual enlightenment. Those who are able to pursue their highest ideals in life are lucky indeed. Their wisdom of themselves and their understanding of their goals in life is commendable. Which is why I ultimately believe that we are all given the chance to live multiple life times so that we may achieve what people like Gandhi have achieved.

Though you are not Indian, your concern to the ideals of Gandhi is really appreciable. In fact, Gandhi was not restricted to India, but he was respected all over the world. His ideals are most relavant to all the human beings. You have derived pleasure and inspiration only seeing his movie. I suggest you to read his books. You have rightly pointed out that he had strong convictions. He preached and practiced the ideals. Certainly, we are in a position to practice his ideals in our life provided we have will and determination. Just for survival, people have forgotton the real things. If the spiritual enlightenment is forgotten, I am afraid, where the people will stand? Atleast now everybody must realise the truth and pursue the highest ideals in their life. I too agree with you that we are all given the chance to live multiple life times keeping in view of the Gandhian ideals.
